Cheap 3D Printer too good to be true

Promising to cost thousands, but you can get is really cheap - sound familiar? Don't fall for cheap 3D printers. Quality over cheap any day for the win!

Cheap sells

An affordable 3D printer is at the top of every hobbyist and enthusiasts wish list. For a couple nail biting days, it looked like it might actually become a near future reality. Through a Kickstarter project, Mota promised to produce units for a double-take price of $99. Having raised almost $65,000 in only a few days, the co-founder of the company Kevin Faro pulled the project from Kickstarter on July 9. He stated in a note to backers "I wish there was a way to offer truly high quality, highly precise 3D printers at incredibly low prices. That would bring about the mass market adoption that this technology so needs. The reality is, like any technology, it is expensive to develop and manufacture." The project produced some negative feedback in the comments in response to the pullout, which we will not quote here. Needless to say, people aren't thrilled that they were sold an idea that was not realistic.

So, when will we see an affordable 3D printer come to the market? The future holds the answer.
