CPU Cooler

Nothing can kill a computer quicker than a lousy CPU Cooler. Today, we show you what an adequate CPU Cooler (okay, overkill maybe) looks like.

Performance generates heat - get a CPU Cooler

Okay, so normally we would suggest having a decent CPU cooler for any project you might be building. Adequate heat removal is key to the longevity of your system, be it a little desktop for basic functions, a gaming machine, or in our case a server. We are in the process of building a new server to upgrade our technology at the home office, and the CPU cooler is absolutely amazing. On the plus side, the case barely closes, so it fits. BUT, so many times people forget to check the dimensions of the CPU cooler, and just assume it will fit in their case. Make sure you get a CPU cooler that will fit, because not all cases are built the same. Check the measurements of the case AND cooler, and add another inch for safety (processor, motherboard, indent in case, etc). While a CPU cooler doesn't have to be expensive, some can get very pricey, and the last thing you need is for it not to fit. Measure once, never RMA.

By the way, yes, on top of that massive stack of fins (technically under them) is a 120mm fan. This server is not going to overheat anytime soon!
