Intel SSD 750 Series

The Intel SSD 750 Series is impressive, sure - but will it hold on to the performance over time? Intel SSD models tend to perform better overall.

Intel SSD performance thoughts

"No Compromise Storage Has Arrived" is quite the statement. Following a very commanding "Performance Unleashed" as the official slogan for the new Intel SSD, I succumb to advertising on Google.

To be frank, if it gets the speeds and performance the advertisement claims, it might be worth the $1000+ price tag for the 1.2TB SSD on a PCIe 3.0 card.

"Experience the future of storage performance for desktop client and workstation users with the IntelĀ® SSD 750 Series. The Intel SSD 750 Series delivers uncompromised performance by utilizing NVM Express* over four lanes of PCIe* 3.0."

This equates to 430,000 Random 4 KB Read (IOPS) and 290,000 Random 4KB Write (IOPS) max claimed achievable speed using PCIe 3.0 Gen 4.

If that number is even close to true, we are talking one add on card and done. Is this the beginning of the end to hard drives?
