Job Loss with Artificial Intelligence taking Careers

Okay, so the topic may be a tad clickbaity, except for the fact that it's real.  Right now, there are people who are losing jobs in the Finance, Medical, and Law fields due to Artificial Intelligence.  Let me explain a bit more:

With Financial jobs, it's a very well known profession to make good money in.  But unfortunately, this is also the one area where the highest risk of automation is expected in the United States.  Right now, according to angel.co there are over 15,000 Finance Startups alone.  Do you think any of them are not thinking high tech?

What about medical jobs?  Right now, IBM's Watson is doing amazing things, and is actually considered on par with a professional radiologist team as far as analyzing an image to diagnose a patient.  Better yet, it can do so substantially faster with far more knowledge than a human can remember.

The list keeps going on, and the practical applications grow by the day.

What are your thoughts on this?

I am encouraging everyone to add to this list, and cite references to where AI is actively taking jobs.

thats a fact which can not be ignored. If AI and robots continues. There would be a good number of job loss.

There’ a hotel in Japan, for example, with a workforce that is 90% robots, 10% human.

In the same way as the digital revolution has seen bigger income equality, with the rich getting richer and poor getting relatively poorer, the AI revolution (or the fourth industrial revolution as it is called) could have a similar impact.

Although they say, robots are for the betterment of environment. It can advance the culture and give a new twist to the 21st century. What i say is. its only for their betterment not for any other ( mostly ). Robots won't be used by any goverment to help poor. They won't even be able to feed themselves properly. 15 years of time interval 40% of jobs would be taken by robots - Metro Devs say.

I'm not sure what to speak about this. Robots can help us in much ways if you see. They can make the community much easier. Russia is now launching a new robot which can fire the target. Which will be used in future for wars. It means, it saves thousands of human lives. moreover, robots will be used to perform society duties. Which can save our time.

It will cause job loss to the people but on the other hand it will develop the society. And by time new jobs will be launched as i think. There wouldn't be any kind of big issue.

I do tend to agree I don't care for the whole thought of weaponized AI, but contrary to my personal sentiments on the subject, quite a few other big name people are crying out against AI. It's a fear of terminator, yet war aside, I've seen lots of practical life saving applications for AI. Think how much quicker 911 response time would be if AI listened and intelligently provided suggested responses when the 911 operator is taking critical information. Or it could advance to strictly AI input with human approval, or something cool like that.

That's the beauty of AI, the practical uses are virtually endless. :)
