What is Scope, and why is it important?

There has been a lot of chatter lately about “Chat Bots”, especially with the new wave of Facebook Messenger bots coming to market. While this is a very cool thing happening, and has even been coined “The next gold rush of Silicon Valley”, I’m still surprised how many people are missing the very basics which have been explained umpteen million times, and is even included in the very basic docs.

Location Data in Facebook Messenger for your PHP Chat Bot

For the purposes of this blog, we are going to assume you are using a PHP chat bot of some sort. We make this assumption only because this is what we are using. If you are using a different programming language, please feel free to adapt the concept to your purposes. First off, when a user sends data to the chat bot containing a location from Facebook, you will receive JSON data. In order for the user to send location data, they have to click on that cool little pin (you know, the drop pin icon). The data will look a lot similar to the following when it hits your webhook:

Is your message on Social Media not getting through?

Are you struggling to get your message out on social media?  Okay, so struggling might not quite sum it up.  Overwhelmed by social media might be more appropriate, if not for the fact that it really does feel that way most days.  You might have even given up completely on social media.

Live Video and Photo Updates

We were on location today with Vermont Modular Homes, Inc shooting video and taking pictures of a house set they are doing. We spent the day doing live picture status updates to their Facebook page, as well as shooting video for later use. While it was bitter cold out (30 degrees + 12mph winds), we still managed to get some amazing footage and populated their news feed on Facebook quite nicely. Campaigns like these work very nicely, as they engage the audience when the action is happening. Feel free to touch base with us if you think this may be something you are interested in.

iPhone 6 Plus Bending

The new iPhone 6 Plus is out, and the latest rumor (which turns out to be true) is the iPhone 6 Plus bends. Two kids decided to prove it. Doing criminal damage, the two kids went out to an Apple store and recorded themselves actually bending an iPhone. Originally, they posted this to get some buzz on YouTube.

At age 15, they decided to do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9U-NmsgCO8 (Strong language warning)

Robin Williams

It was with great sorrow we heard about the passing of Robin Williams yesterday. A man of great character, talent, and charisma has been prematurely taken from our world. While we know that there was a big battle with depression, the need for more understanding about this mental illness, among others, is clearly needed. With better understanding comes better ways to manage. With better ways to manage comes the avoidance of a loss of life. Nobody should die because of a mental illness, with support and kindness of others.
